Early this morning, South African Police Service members arrested two suspects in Welkom and recovered an illegal firearm.
At approximately 04:00, officers from Welkom Platoon 01, Section 1, acting on a tip-off, approached two suspicious males at a filling station on Constantia Road. A search found one black and silver Norinco pistol, four live rounds of ammunition, and one black balaclava.
The suspects, aged 14 and 20, were arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
