Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) in Zamdela appeal to members of the community to assist with information that will assist in the arrest of four suspects on the run after hijacking a truck on the R57 route passing towards Heilbron.

On Thursday, 27 January 2022 at about 06:50, a complainant alleges that he was driving a company truck from Gauteng province passing through Zamdela heading to Lesotho.

On his way towards the R57, 10 kilometers from the R549 turn off, he noticed a white Jetta Volkswagen vehicle with a driver and three passengers overtaking him.

The passenger seated in front was wearing a reflector jacket with a SAPS emblem indicated to the truck driver to pull over on the side of the road. The truck driver stopped, one of the passengers got out of the vehicle and pointed the truck driver with a firearm. His hands were tied with cable ties and face covered with a jacket.

One suspect who was a passenger in the white Jetta vehicle drove the truck whilst the three others remained in the vehicle with the complainant. The suspects then made a U-turn driving back towards Vanderbijlpark, which is where they later left the complainant in an open field.

They managed to disconnect the tracker and left with both the truck and vehicle.

The complainant later managed to untie himself and sought for assistance. The four wanted suspects fled off with a white Nissan UD truck with registration number BF22YV GP estimated to the value of R600 000.00.

The truck was loaded with mechanical equipment estimated to the value of R500 000.

Anyone with information that may assist the police in tracking the suspects can contact Constable Kgaugelo Muvhango on ‪076 791 5740 or MySAPS App for anonymous tip-off or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
