The Rosendal police have arrested three suspects from Matwabeng near Senekal after commission of business robbery at the shop of a foreign national and seized 9mm pistol with serial numbers filed off.

It’s alleged that on 25 November 2023 police were patrolling when they received a complaint of business robbery at a certain Tucks shop at Mautse location.

It’s further alleged that at about 06:30 foreign national businessman opened the shop for daily business when at about 07:30 two male suspects entered the shop and one wearing a navy blue cap and brown jersey closed the door of the shop from inside and the other pointed the victim with a black pistol while the third suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash including coins and cigarettes cartoons. They fled the scene with a white vehicle towards other sections of the same township. The victim sustained minor injuries.

The police reacted swiftly and arrested the three suspect as of them was found at a nearby mountain where he went to hide. The police also seized a vehicle, 9mm Norinco pistol with serial numbers filed off together with undisclosed amount of cash.

The three suspects aged between 24 and 35 from Matwabeng near Senekal are expected to appear before the Ficksburg Magistrates’ court on Monday, 27 November 2023 facing charges of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
