Three arrested with pairs of new shoes near Harrismith

HARRISMITH – The high visibility of police, traffic officials and the SANDF was seen on the N3 roadblock near Harrismith.

Three people have been arrested on the roadblock with new pairs of tekkies and shoes unaccounted for. The trio was on their way from Gauteng to KwaZulu-Natal. The taxi they were traveling in was stopped and searched by police who found pairs of shoes to the value of R8000-00.

A number of travellers and taxi drivers are being charged for non-compliance in terms of the Disaster Management Act, alert Level 4, some commuters were traveling without permits and other drivers overloading taxis. We wish to remind travellers to acquire permits for burials those traveling between provinces.

SITUATION

The traffic on national roads N5 and N3 gathering momentum but flowing freely without any incidents since the reopening of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
