On 6 May 2022, thirty five Bonsmara cattle were stolen from a farm in Odendaalsrus and the case of Stock Theft was registered for further investigation.

The case was assigned to the following members Lejweleputswa District Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit, Constable Galeboe, Sergeant Ramatsa and Warrant Officer Coen de Beer whereby tracks were followed up for several km which ended at a maize field, 10 cattle were found abandoned.

Additional 19 cattle were found 7 km from the farm where live stock was stolen.

So six cattle are still missing and the 29 cattle were handed back to the owner which were positively identified as his live stock. Two suspects were found with the cattle one suspect was arrested and the second suspect managed to flee.

A manhunt has been launched for the second suspect.

The apprehended suspect is expected to appear today in Odendaalsrus Magistrate Court.
