Four suspects were, on the morning of 18 January 2021, arrested for the murder of a police Captain’s son in Theunissen.

On 30 November 2020 at about 06:10 a passer-by alerted the police about a male body at Basil Read grave yard. The body was identified as that of Andile Majikela (31) the son of a Police Captain at Theunissen SAPS.

The body was found with multiple stab wounds and the deceased’s shoes, cellphone and jacket were missing.

A case of murder and robbery were registered for further investigation. The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Major General Lerato Molale appointed a team of investigators led by Colonel Mzamo Nyamani.

The team made a breakthrough on the 18 January 2021 when they conducted an operation from 04:15 until 07:00, which led to the arrest of four suspects.

The suspects aged between 20 and 24 were arrested in Theunissen, its farming residential area and Virginia. The suspects were found in possession of some of the deceased’s items.

The suspects will appear in the Theunissen Magistrate court on the 19 January 2021 on charges of murder and robbery.
