During early hours of 12 January 2022 a 48-year-old male was arrested when found in possession of 486.5 Kilograms of copper wire.
The arrest followed after members from Kroonstad highway patrol conducted a stop and search on the N1 near Kroonstad, when they noticed a black Chevrolet bakkie driving from Welkom towards Johannesburg.
The vehicle was searched, copper cable with an estimated street value of R192 000 was discovered and confiscated.
The suspect will appear before the Kroonstad Magistrate court on Wednesday 12 January 2022 on Possession of suspected stolen copper wire.
