A multi-unit police operation resulted in a significant drug bust on the N8 road near Serwalo in Selosesha on Thursday morning.
The operation, which took place on 28 August 2025 at approximately 10:00, involved members from Selosesha Crime Prevention, Public Order Police (POP), Boithuso Police, and Thaba Nchu Police. While manning a coordinated roadblock, officers stopped a white Iveco taxi for a search.
During the search, a male passenger was found to be in possession of 1,346 Mandrax tablets.
A 38-year-old suspect was immediately placed under arrest. Police have opened a case of possession of drugs against him, with the seized narcotics having an estimated street value of R53,840.00.
The suspect is expected to make his initial appearance before the Thaba Nchu Magistrates’ Court in the coming days.
It is reported that the white taxi was travelling from Thaba Nchu to Botshabelo at the time it was stopped. Authorities have confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
