VILJOENSDRIF – An undocumented suspect about 40 years was arrested for Possession of copper cable in Viljoensdrif. It is alleged that on 25 August 2023 members attached to Viljoensdrif SAPS were patrolling the R82 when they noticed a suspicious vehicle.

They followed and stopped the suspicious green bakkie, and while the members interviewed the driver they discovered that he is a foreign national and could not supply any documentation. The two members searched the bakkie and discovered 671kg of copper cable.

The copper with the street value of R100 000 and the green Isuzu bakkie were confiscated.

The suspect will appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate Court on Monday 2023-08-28 on charges of Possession of copper cable, Tampering and destroying of infrastructure and illegal immigrant.
