Hennenman local farmers thank the police after thirteen stolen cows were recovered and four suspects were arrested at Vriedefontein Plot in Hennenman.

On Thursday 6 August 2020, members of Welkom Public Order (POP) Team led by Warrant Officer Thabo Booy followed a crime intelligence led information and nabbed four suspected stock thieves aged between 26 to 65 about suspicious stolen cows at one of the plots in Hennenman.

The POP members received information on Wednesday 5 August 2020, at about 20:00 and conducted a way lay near the farm where the suspected stolen cows were kept. In the early hours of the morning the four suspects allegedly loaded the six cows into one of the trailers hooked to a van. They were arrested whilst transporting the cows to Bloemfontein.

The members went on to infiltrate the farm and found seven suspected stolen cows and recovered another trailer hooked on to a van which was going to be used in the transporting of the other cows to Kroonstad. All thirteen cows that were recovered belonged to local farmers in the area.

The Odendaalsrus Stock Theft Unit was alerted and a case of possession of suspected stolen stock was registered for further investigation. The suspects were remanded and will appear at court soon.
