A motorcyclist is dead and three others were seriously injured after a female driver of a Ford Ranger bakkie belonging to the Free State Provincial government lost control and slammed into a group of motorcyclists on Friday afternoon 25 October 2019.
The incident happened on the N8 in the direction of Thaba ‘Nchu, outside Bloemfontein. With the arrival of the ER24 ambulance service several motor cyclists were found lying scattered across the road. A Toyota Avanza also collided with some of the motor cyclists after the initial accident.
Two motorcyclists were very seriously injured. One of them was airlifted to hospital and the other one was taken to hospital per ambulance but he died with his arrival at the hospital due to multiple injuries.
The female driver of the State vehicle was only lightly injured. The motor cyclists were members of the Crusaders MCC motor cycle club.
