A coordinated intelligence-driven operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) and private security forces led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of 14 stolen Merino sheep valued at approximately R49,900.
The anti-stock theft operation, which began on Thursday, 17 July 2025, at 10:00 AM, was launched following intelligence reports that a group of male suspects were planning to target a farm in Edenburg for livestock theft.
In the early hours of Friday, 18 July, at around 04:30, the operational team intercepted a white Mercedes-Benz panel van on the N6 near Reddersburg, traveling toward Bloemfontein. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered the stolen sheep inside.
Three suspects, aged 39, 32, and 29, were arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen livestock and stock theft. They are expected to appear in court soon.
