A Search Task Team has been deployed to locate 19-year-old Kamogelo Baukudi, who was kidnapped earlier today by two males impersonating police officers. The incident occurred at approximately 11:55 on Vereeniging Drive in Erlichpark Extension.
According to the complainant, Daniel Malebatso, he had arrived at Marti Du Plessis School to fetch Kamogelo, a Grade 11 learner, as usual. The two left the school premises in a Suzuki Ertiga, with Kamogelo behind the wheel.
While driving along Vereeniging Drive, they were reportedly pulled over by a white Toyota Hilux GD-6 Double Cab after hearing a siren. The bakkie, fitted with blue lights on the grill and what appeared to be a police radio inside, was occupied by two unknown males—one wearing a police uniform and the other dressed in blue tracksuits.
The uniformed suspect allegedly accused Daniel and Kamogelo of using the Suzuki Ertiga to deliver drugs. The pair were then separated, with Daniel instructed to drive ahead while the suspects followed in the Toyota Hilux, supposedly en route to Park Road Police Station.
However, as both vehicles turned back westward on Vereeniging Drive, a truck passed between them, obstructing Daniel’s view. He later realized the Toyota Hilux had disappeared, along with Kamogelo.
Daniel recalled that one of the suspects spoke fluent Sesotho and mentioned the name “Thipe.” Authorities later recovered the cellphones of both Daniel and Kamogelo under a bridge on Ferrera Road.
