A police Sergeant was arrested for defeating the ends of justice after his dereliction of duties led to two arrested business robbery suspects being released.
It is alleged that Sergeant Tsoarelo Justice Molakeng, attached to Bethlehem Crime Detection, refused on 22 June 2023 to take two suspects and the docket assigned to him to court when they had to appear on the business robbery charges.
As a results of his actions, the two suspects were released from police custody because their detention time had lapsed.
Sergeant Molakeng was arrested by the Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit and appeared before Bethlehem magistrate court on 29 June 2023 and was released on R1000 bail.
