R300k worth of mandrax recovered, Harrismith

A 37 year old man will appear in the Harrismith Magistrate court for dealing in drugs and possession of live ammunition. The suspect was arrested after Police followed a crime intelligence led information about a house used as a drug den in Intabazwe, Harrismith.

Phuthaditjhaba Cluster Crime Combating Unit, Crime Intelligence, Local Criminal Record Center, K9 Unit and Trio Task Team reacted to the information and found 1335 Mandrax tablets and powdered Mandrax worth estimated R300 000.

Whilst searching the house the police also found a 9mm firearm magazine with 15 live rounds. The team also seized two plasma TV screens after the owner could not provide ownership documents.

The suspects was arrested and detained for dealing in drugs, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of suspected stolen goods.

The acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Solly Lesia applauded the team for their swift response and urges members of community to continue providing valuable information that will assist remove criminals in our communities.
