R1,908 mill worth of ARV tablets recovered, 7 suspects arrested, Kroonstad

On Saturday the 17 October 2020, information was received regarding suspects who were coming from Gauteng Province to Kroonstad who were in possession of ARV tablets with the aim of selling them to a potential buyer from Welkom.

An intelligence driven operation was conducted in conjunction with Illicit Mining task team which led to the arrest of seven (7) suspects in Kroonstad. They were found in possession of 1272 containers of ARV tablets to the estimated value of R1 908 000. The tablets and a Chevrolet Cruz were confiscated.

Four suspects are from Sebokeng in Vereeniging, one Lesotho citizen staying in Welkom, one from Phuthaditjhaba and the other one from Theunissen.

All suspects which are five males and two females aged between 31 and 39 will be charged on Contravention of Medicine Act and will appear at Kroonstad Magistrate court soon.
