Two suspects, Ramokhule Maboloka (34) and Motsamai Mokoena (45) appeared in Sasolburg Magistrate court on 28 April 2020, on four charges of possession of ammunition, bribery, being illegally in the country as well as the contravention of the Disaster Management Act (failure by person to be confined to residence during lockdown).

The case against Maboloka is rolled to 29 April 2020, to afford him an opportunity to obtain legal representative and Mokoena’s case is postponed to 4 May 2020 for formal bail application. They are both still in custody.

On Sunday, 26 April 2020 at about 09:30, Viljoensdrift members were conducting a roadblock on the R82 road when Sergeant Manoto stopped a black Sang Yong vehicle. She asked two male occupants for permits to travel and they failed to produce the required documents.

The two then tried to bribe the member with R1000 and later increased it to R2000. She refused the bribe and arrested both men.

Inside the car a large sum of money was found as well as 73 live rounds of ammunition.

Free State Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane applauded Sergeant Manoto for refusing to take a bribe and showing her loyalty to serve and uphold the Constitution of this country.
