Police seek public assistance in car hijacking and murder case at Rooidam

The police at Parkweg seek public assistance that can help solve a case of car hijacking and murder that occurred on Sunday 28 January 2024.

A complaint was received at about 09:30 and the patrol vehicle was despatched to attend. The members arrived at Rooidam near Lourierpark and found a White Volkswagen Golf 1 which was set alight; the vehicle’s windows were shattered. Inside the vehicle was a charred human body burnt beyond recognition. Various crime scene experts were summoned to process the scene. A case of murder was then opened at Parkweg Police Station.

Preliminary investigation started and the police discovered that a case of hijacking was opened at Kagisanong Police Station. According to the report made to the police, a 26-year-old male from Freedom Square alleged that he was driving along Taelo Molosioa Street when two males stopped him asking for a lift. He further alleged that one of them pulled out a firearm and they hijacked the White Volkswagen Golf 1 from him.

He describes one of the suspects as light in complexion and has a beard. He further described his clothing as Black t-shirt and Black bermuda shorts. The second suspect is described as chubby, bearded and dark in complexion; he was wearing a Khaki Chino trousers, Pink shirt and white hat. The suspects drove off towards Tau Street.
