A SAPS helicopter crashed near Cathedral Peak in the Drakensberg.

The helicopter was deployed to search for a missing hiker.

All four occupants were unharmed during the accident. The reason for the accident is not known, and the hiker is still missing.
Recently a police helicopter also crashed near the Huguenot tunnel in the Western Cape.
