On Wednesday, 17 December 2025, members of the Vrede Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 37-year-old suspect from Bergville during a stop-and-search operation on the R34 outside Vrede.
Police confiscated 410 mandrax tablets, which were concealed inside a lunch box bag. The drugs have an estimated street value of over R20,000.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Vrede Magistrate’s Court soon.
