Crime intelligence information by Phuthaditjhaba police led to the arrest of five suspects on the R103 road, 10 km from Warden to Vrede and the recovery of firearms. Phuthaditjhaba Crime Intelligence followed information on the possible planned robbery at a supermarket in Vrede.

They mobilized the TRT and kept observation on the suspects. A white Fortuner with five men was intercepted and searched. Two 9mm pistols and an air gun were found. One businessman from Bethlehem and four men from Phuthaditjhaba were arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Suspects in their 30’s will appear in Warden Magistrates’ Court.
