Residents barricaded most of the streets in Phomolong, there was also an attempt to barricade the R70 road and schools are been disrupted.
On the 17 April 2023 at about 00:00, residents of Phomolong gathered in groups and tried to barricade R70 road but was thwarted by SAPS members of Public Order Policing on the ground who dispersed them.
The group then went in from of Phomolong Satellite Police Station and demanded to speak to the MEC and Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane.
The situation is still tense as a group of about 350 are gathering with main roads in Phomolong are barricaded with burning tyres, rubbish, big stones and trees.
A case of Public Violence has been registered and no arrests thus far.
