A body of a man was finally found after a motor vehicle that crashed off the Prinsloo Magrietta Bridge on Monday 9 August 2021, and was retrieved from a dam in Oranjeville.

Police divers search and rescue team resumed on the third day Thursday, 12 August 2021 at about 09:00 with the search and retrieval of the missing person and motor vehicle. Towing Service was roped in for assistance and a red Kia Sportage was lifted out of the dam at about 10:00.

A lifeless body of a man was found trapped inside the motor vehicle. This man was identified by next of kin at the scene as Lefunyana Tsotetsi aged 42.

A case of culpable homicide was registered for further investigation.

Acting Provincial Commissioner for Free State, Major General Len Singh commended all role players. “We are very thankful and appreciative towards the good relations we have with fellow colleagues from the Gauteng Search & rescue team that assisted with the search, members of the sister departments; Department of Traffic, Fire, Netcare and Towing service,” said the Acting Provincial Commissioner.
