Off-duty police officers attached to the Mangaung Metro District Operational Command Centre (DOCC) East Task Force arrested a 31-year-old suspected drug dealer at the Thaba Nchu taxi rank on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
At approximately 15:36, the off-duty members received a tip-off about an adult male allegedly dealing drugs at the local transit hub. Acting on the intelligence, the officers mobilized and proceeded to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team identified a male matching the description provided. After approaching and intercepting the suspect, a search of his person led to the seizure of multiple ziplock packets containing crushed Mandrax, small ziplock packets containing khat drugs, and an undisclosed amount of cash found inside a small bag, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The suspect was arrested on charges of dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear soon in the Thaba Nchu Magistrate’s Court.
