Three male suspects overpowered employees at a clothing store in Odendaalsrus CBD, cellphones and other items were robbed. Odendaalsrus SAPS members pursued the suspects and managed to apprehend them at Jouberton.
On 12 April 2022, at about 16:20, the complainant and her male colleague were serving clients when three suspicious men entered the business premises pretending to look for something inside the shop.
The three men overpowered the two employees and forced them to the back of the business premises where they were both tied up with cable ties. They demanded the key of the safe.
All the cellphones from the safe were taken and other items. The suspects fled the scene in a white Toyota Fortuner. The incident was reported to Odendaalsrus SAPS and members swiftly responded.
The suspects were pursued and intercepted in Jouberton where they were assisted. The stolen items were found in their possession. The arrested suspects aged between 32 and 43 are facing a charge of business robbery and will soon appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane applauded the vigilance and commitment displayed by the members that led to the successful arrest in North West Province. “This shows dedication, commitment and patriotism to serve the law abiding citizens of our country. Keep up this excellent work,” concluded the Provincial Commissioner.
