Odendaalsrus business robber arrested, R20k robbed cash recovered

A business robbery at a wholesaler was reported and R20 000 cash was robbed. A quick response of Odendaalsrus SAPS members led to the arrest of a suspect with stolen cash that amounts to R20 000 and a firearm and ammunitions.

Members were applauded for excellent work done.

On the 21 December 2021 at about 15:50 a 36-year-old complainant was with his male employee when two unknown African men entered the wholesale business premises at Odendaalsrus.

One of them had a handgun and pointed him and instructed them to lie on the floor. Cash that amounts to R20 000 was robbed at gun point. The two ran in the direction of Odendaalsrus taxi rank and as they flee from the scene, one shot was fired and no one sustained any injuries.

This incident was reported to Odendaalsrus Police Station and the following members Sergeants Lebaletse Lenake and Sechaba Molete.

They gave chance and followed the fleeing suspects who were armed with a firearm. Their quick response led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man who is a foreigner and cash robbed, a firearm with serial numbers clearly visible and four (4) live ammunitions were seized in possession of the suspect.

The stolen cash was handed back to the owner of a wholesaler at Odendaalsrus.

The second suspect is still on the loose but the suspect with the loot and firearm was arrested.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in the Free State, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane applauded the quick response of these two members of Odendaalsrus who ensured that the suspect with cash and firearm was arrested. We regard this as a breakthrough and this is a message we send in this Festive Season, the arm of the law will reach you wherever you are.
