A new-born baby girl was found dead yesterday morning in a veld on the corners of Mc Cobe and Park street in Fickburg in the Free State.
ER24 paramedics were returning to their branch at approximately 10h35 when they were flagged down by local authorities.
Upon arrival, paramedics were lead into the veld where they found a new-born girl lying wrapped in black plastic bags.
Paramedics assessed the patient and found that she showed no signs of life. Nothing more could be done for the child and she was declared dead on scene.
It was evident to paramedics that the child had been dead for some time.
The details are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
