Two men will appear in court soon for the murder of a 28-year-old Bethlehem taxi driver, Mosia Joseph Mofokeng. They were arrested on Tuesday, 13 September 2016, by members of Bethlehem K9 and Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCI).

On 15 August 2016, a couple boarded a taxi in Bethlehem. Inside the vehicle, they found the driver and three male passengers. Along the way, the three passengers are alleged to have drawn firearms and proceeded to fasten the driver and couple. The driver was assaulted, his throat slit and left for dead near Fouriesburg. The couple was also robbed of cellphones, assaulted and left stranded.

Suspects were put under surveillance following preliminary police investigation. Further information was followed and the suspects were arrested. Several cellphones including the ones suspected to have been robbed on the fateful day were also recovered. Bethlehem Station Commander Brig Nkaise Molefe would like to send heartfelt condolences to Mr Mofokeng`s family, friends and colleagues. “Our detectives are relentless in tailing the remaining suspect. More importantly, we would like to appeal for calm as we carry out this intricate mission,” she concluded.
