The Vrede police have arrested a 28-year-old woman from Thembalihle near Vrede after the body of a male person was found in their shack.
It is alleged that on 1 July 2022 at approximately 07:15 a community member came to the police station to report about the body of a male person in the shack next to theirs.
It is further alleged that the two are staying together at Waghuis informal settlement and fought during the night of 30 June 2022 at about 23:00.
On arrival at the crime scene, police found the suspect and a pair of scissors covered in blood inside a shallow hole. The clothes of both the suspect and victim were seized. The deceased is well known by neighbors but not yet identified by his family. His name will be withheld until he has been formally identified.
He was found lying outside the shack near the door and was already dead. He sustained a stab wound on the right side under the shoulder and head.
The suspect, a 28-year-old woman was arrested and is expected to be charged and to appear before Vrede Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 4 July 2022 facing a charge of murder.
