The Harrismith police have arrested the alleged murder suspect at his place after it was found that he was involved in a fight with the victim, spear and bloody clothes were seized.
It’s alleged that on 16 December 2022 at about 21:20, the police were summoned to attend a complaint of people fighting at Warden Street in Harrismith.
It was established that the victim fought with a group of people and in the process one of the assailants stabbed him with a sharp object.
He sustained some fatal wounds on both chest and stomach and was declared dead upon receiving attention from Emergency Medical Service. The deceased was identified by friends but not yet his family.
More boots hit the ground running to trace the suspect consisting of the Provincial task team and local police.
The place of the suspect was visited and 26-year-old man was found with blood stained clothing and when searching the premises suspected murder weapon, the spear was also seized.
The suspect was arrested and detained.
Other suspects will be traced and brought to book.
He will be charged and expected to appear before the Harrismith Magistrate court on Monday, 19 December 2022 facing charge of murder.
