Welkom municipality is SA’s top municipal waster by wasting R818 million over the past three years.
The total waste in the 2016/17 financial year amounts to R1.5 billion. 250 00 people have been unemployed to the closure of the mines in the area.
Theft of copper, cables and steel, street lights, stop signs and manhole covers are high occurences in the area.
