Two alleged drug dealers murdered as a result of mob justice by the community of Mafube.

On Friday, 7 October 2022, members of Mafube SAPS were summoned to a scene where a male person was allegedly beaten and killed by a group of people. The emergency personnel were called to the scene and declared the 26-year-old dead.

About a week prior, on 29 September 2022 members received information of a 37-year-old victim who was found murdered near a church at Mafube. Upon further investigation, it is alleged that the deceased was part of the alleged drug dealers in Mafube and was attacked by members of the community.

Investigations continue and arrests will be made soon on the two murders.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General TS Lesia strongly warns community members from taking the law into their own hands as this will have serious repercussions.

“We urge the community members to report any criminal activities to the police to allow proper investigations and bring perpetrators to justice. May I warn you that should you be found as part of the mob justice, you will be arrested as it is a crime,” concluded Major General Lesia.
