Police were called to a farmhouse near Glen and made a gruesome discovery of the bodies of an elderly couple about 300 meters away from the farmhouse with open wounds.

On Saturday 4 May 2024, a concerned neighbour called Glen police after he could not get hold of his fellow neighbours on their cellphones.

On arrival at the farm, police went to the farmhouse and discovered that the doors were left open. Upon entering the house, blood was found on the floor and the house was ransacked, but the elderly couple were not in the house.

Immediately, a multidisciplinary activation plan was implemented and a search for the suspects and both the elderly was launched through the night. The 76-year-old husband’s body was found about 300 meters away from the farmhouse, and his 73-year-old wife’s body was discovered in the septic tank at the farm. While the search continued, their vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, was found near Majwemasweu (Brandfort).

Preliminary investigations revealed that both victims suffered open wounds on the upper body and were certified dead at the scene. Tools and electronic items were stolen from the house

Glen police are investigating cases of house robbery and murder.
