Manhunt launched after a woman was found murdered in Thabong

The police have launched a manhunt for an unknown man who allegedly shot and killed a 51-year-old woman at her home.

The incident took place on Sunday, 24 September 2023 at about 02:00 at Freedom Square in Thabong. According to reports, the woman was at home with her husband and neighbours, busy drinking and enjoying themselves. Suddenly, an unknown man opened the door and allegedly fired a gunshot towards the husband, which scratched him on the lower part of the stomach.

The man further shot the husband in the right leg. He managed to go to the bedroom and hide. The intruder demanded money from the wife and she told him that she did not have money. While the man was in the bedroom, he heard the intruder ordering the wife to ask for money from him. The husband then heard several gunshots and the door opened when his wife fell to the ground inside their bedroom. By that time, the intruder had already left.

The victim, Ms Mathapelo Thabana was certified dead by EMS personnel. A murder case was registered for further investigation. No property was taken except for the cellphone of the deceased.
