The man suspected of allegedly killing his half-sister and injuring his 81-year-old stepmother at Poelong Village in Qwaqwa handed himself over to the Lenasia police in Gauteng Province on 27 June 2023 and a firearm was seized.

He is appearing in Tseki Magistrates’ Court on 28 June 2023.

It’s alleged that on 21 June 2023 at about 18:00, the suspect arrived home an hour before the incident from Gauteng. He had an argument with his half-sister and stepmother in the kitchen.

The argument was about his father’s property that he demanded back.

During the heated debate, he allegedly pulled out his firearm and fired several shots at his half-sister and stepmother.

It was discovered during a police inspection of the crime scene that a 47-year-old woman was fatally wounded and her stepmother shot in the neck.

The stepmother was admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit but was later moved to normal ward.

The suspect left and ran away.

Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened.

The suspect, who is in his 50s, is appearing before Tseki Magistrates’ Court.
