A 27-year-old suspect, Mohlomi Dumke appeared in Sasolburg Magistrate court on Tuesday 7 April 2020, on a charge of murder. The case has been postponed to the 17 April 2020 for bail application while the suspect remains in custody.
It is alleged by the suspect’s mother that on Friday 3 April 2020, at about 05:10 her son, Mohlomi arrived at her parental home and informed her that he strangled and killed his girlfriend, Nomvula Diamond (25), thereafter fled. The suspect is staying at his parental home in Walter Sisulu Section.
The suspect’s mother informed the police and the search for the suspect started. He was traced and found at his grandmother’s place where he was hiding, and arrested.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mohlomi went to fetch Nomvula from her parental home to come and visit him. On arrival at his parental home, they started arguing which led to murder of the victim.
She was found with head injuries and throttling marks on the neck.
Investigation continues.
