On Saturday the 17 October 2020, at about 22:30 the police were summoned to a scene of murder at open space between Extension 11 and Zone 8 Ficksburg. On arrival they met a male a witness who alleged that they were on their way to the shop together with deceased who is a fellow country man from Lesotho, when they met a group of about 10 males carrying wooden sticks. The group attacked them and the witnesses managed to escape and they caught the deceased.
He indicated that he noticed from a distance when the deceased was doused with petrol and set alight. The deceased was certified dead by the EMS.
Both the witness and the deceased are employed as herd boys in Meqheleng, Ficksburg.
Suspects are not known and no arrests have been made. A case of murder is being investigated. Anyone with information should call Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or send information anonymously via MySAPS App.
