On 27 August 2017, an intelligence led operation was conducted with POP and K9 members at St Helena, Welkom.
One persons was arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
During the operation, several unlicensed firearms were seized at a municipal sewerage farm in St Helena, Welkom.
The items recovered include, 3 R1 rifles, 1 Uzzi rifle, 1 short gun, 2 revolvers and 4 pistols.
The following ammunition was also confiscated, 75 rounds of R5 ammunition, 124 revolver rounds of ammunition and 115 9mm rounds of ammunition.
