On Wednesday, 5 April 2023, members of Visible Policing Unit at Mangaung Police Station arrested a 28-year-old suspect in possession of counterfeit notes (South African currency).
The team was busy with stop-and-search activity in Joe Slovo area, when they stopped the suspect and found a stack of notes in his possession at about 10:45.
The members immediately noticed that the notes were false representation of the South African Rand and questioned the suspect about its origin.
The man gave conflicting stories on where he acquired the notes.
The suspect was then arrested for possession of counterfeit money notes amounting to R4800-00.
A case docket of possession of counterfeit money was opened at Mangaung Police Station.
The notes were booked in Evidence Management System and the suspect detained in police custody. The suspect will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate Court soon.
