The Bethlehem Regional Sexual Offences Court together with Bethlehem Family, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit on 27 September 2021 found the accused, Lerato Mohono (25), from Ntha near Lindley, guilty and he was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape of an elderly woman (63).

On 21 February 2021 the accused, Mohono broke into the house of the elderly woman and raped her.

When leaving the house, he took along her cellphone. The neighbours reportedly saw him leaving the house and swiftly apprehended him.

He was handed over to the Lindley police. He was charged with three counts of housebreaking for which he was sentenced to three years and he was handed six months imprisonment for theft and a life term imprisonment for rape.

Detective Constable Khehla Mosikili attached to the Bethlehem Family, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit was commended for his sterling investigation that has secured the harsh sentencing.
