On Friday,3 August 2018, the launch of Women’s month started with Ladybrand women from different law enforcement agencies including Government departments embarking on Operation Basadi.

The operation commenced with a roadblock on the N8 leading to Ladybrand and Maseru road. The other group augmented the deployment at Maseru Port of Entry. The operation was led by women from SAPS, SANDF, Department of Home Affairs and Provincial Traffic Department.

Successes achieved: 1 male was arrested on two counts, Undocumented person arrested and for bribery on Ladybrand after he tried to bribe members to let him go, 3 males were arrested for failing to appear in front of an immigration officer. At the end of the operation 123 vehicles were stopped, searched and tested at the entry and exit points, 4 ID tested at exit points, 2 dangerous weapons (knives) were confiscated at the pedestrian point, 300 vehicles stopped by traffic officers and 59 Traffic fines issued to the value of R41 500-00. 2 motorist were arrested for speeding on N8.

“We will see more of these integrated multi disciplinary operations throughout the province during this month led by our women”, said Lt Gen Moeketsi Sempe.
