Thabang Tall Shale (31) was handed a hefty sentence by Bloemfontein High Court sitting in Zastron for kidnapping, rape and murder of a 9 year old girl in Matlakeng, Zastron.
The body of the girl was found dumped near a railway during a manhunt by the police and the community on the 10 March 2019. The accused was arrested on same day and pleaded guilty to the crime.
The accused was sentenced as follows:
For kidnapping – 3 years imprisonment
For rape and murder – life imprisonment each.
The Cluster Commander of Smithfield, Colonel Ngoma Guma has welcomed the harsh sentences and applauded Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences (FCS) Unit for their relentless efforts that ensured justice was served. He further condemns all violence against members of the community especially women and children.
