A high-profile operation led by the Hawks, in collaboration with multiple law enforcement and utility agencies, has resulted in the recovery of suspected stolen property valued at approximately R9 million.

The operation, conducted on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, targeted a plot on the outskirts of Bloemfontein following intelligence about a warehouse storing illicit goods. The Tactical Response Team (TRT), Firearms, Liquor and Second Hand Goods (FLASH) unit, Local Criminal Record Center (LCRC), Eskom, and Centlec all participated in the coordinated raid.

Prior to the operation, Serious Organised Crime Investigation detectives secured a search warrant after receiving information about the warehouse. Upon searching the premises, authorities discovered a significant haul, including various voltage transformers, rolls of copper cable, and multiple loose items such as electricity meter boxes. Eskom officials confirmed that the recovered items belonged to the power utility.

No arrests have been reported thus far, but investigations are ongoing.
