Irregular tenders: Hawks execute a search and seizure at Free State government department

On Tuesday, 15 November 2022 a search and seizure operation was conducted by the Bloemfontein Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation Unit based on information received of irregular tenders awarded to certain company.

One of the applicants to 2022 Macufe tenders took the Department to court in October 2022, where Judge PJ Loubser ruled that the awarding of tender to C-squared was the result of a tender process that was not fair, equitable and competitive, contravening Section 217 of the Constitution.

Allegations made during the application was that the awarding of the tenders was tainted by administrative irregularities, which included deviating from the specifications in the tender invitation without informing other applicants.

A criminal case was opened on the alleged irregularities and is currently under investigation.

More information will be released after investigation is concluded.
