House robbery and murder of man (86), accused sentenced, Sasolburg

Hendrick Thabo Mokoena (40) was convicted and sentenced to 22 years imprisonment by the Sasolburg Magistrate Court on Friday, 26 August 2022 for murder and House Robbery.

On Monday, 29 February 2022 the police summoned to a house in Sasolburg where male aged 86 was assaulted and strangled to death and the suspect/s were unknown.

On Wednesday, 4 May 2022 Hendrick Thabo Mokoena was arrested at his residential place at Zamdela after he was linked to the case through the deceased cellphone records.

The police also recovered all the items estimated to the value of R7000-00 which were stolen during the house robbery.

Detective Warrant Officer Marius Engelbrecht attached to Sasolburg detectives left no stone unturned in ensuring that he brings the perpetrator behind bars.
