Home invasion, shootout: Police officer and three people shot, Thabong

Police are looking for five suspects following the shooting of a police officer and three other people on Friday, 23 October 2020 at about 22:00.

It is alleged that on the said day the complainant (48) was hosting a few friends at his home in Thubelitsha, Thabong when five unknown armed men stormed into the house and demanded money.

He resisted which led to a shot being fired and other occupants being threatened. The suspects then robbed the victim of an undisclosed amount of cash. One of the male occupants was then shot in the chest and he died at the scene. Two others were shot in the lower body respectively.

The police who were patrolling in that area arrived at the said house whilst the shooting was in progress. They came under heavy fire and a shootout ensued which led to the shooting of a 32-year-old police Constable. She is admitted at the nearby hospital for treatment. A police vehicle was also damaged during the shootout.

The suspects fled the scene with a white double cab and no arrests have been made. Police investigations continue.

A case of house robbery, murder and three cases of attempted murder have been registered for further investigation.

Anyone with information that can lead to the identification and arrests of the suspects should please contact Colonel Mzamo Nyamani of Thabong Detectives on 082 453 0759 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111, alternatively send information via MySAPS App.
