Home invasion: Elderly woman attacked, indecently assaulted, Bothaville

A house breaking with intention to rape an elderly woman was reported on 23 December 2021 at about 23:20. A 60-year-old woman was asleep at her house at Bothaville when she was awoken by noise and went out from her bedroom to investigate.

She saw an African man standing inside her house and who forced himself inside her bedroom.

The victim was assaulted, strangled and undressed. He indecently assaulted the woman and robbed cash that amounts to R300.

The suspect left the scene and the incident was reported to Bothaville Police Station.

The members of Bothaville SAPS led by Captain Nzungwa Nzungwa managed to follow up the leads and a 35-year-old man was arrested within an hour after the incident was reported.

The suspect is facing Housebreaking with intention to Rape and Rape and House Robbery. He will appear on the 28 December 2021 in Bothaville Magistrate Court.

The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Maj Gen Lerato Molale applauded the quick response by members of Bothaville SAPS who ensured that the suspect was arrested to face the might of the law.
