On Sunday, 12 February 2023, four unknown males stormed the Butchery and Grill at a Mall in Heatherdale Road, Heidedal at about 08:00.
According to reports, the suspects attempted to rob the manager at gunpoint but, she managed to raise alarm, forcing the suspects to flee the scene without taking anything.
One vigilant member of the community took note of the suspect’s description and followed them without being noticed.
The covert pursuit led to a carwash in Rembrandt Street, where our hero decided to then call the police. Members of Mangaung Flying Squad swiftly responded to the call and one (1) suspect was arrested in possession of unlicensed firearm loaded with 7 rounds of ammunition.
The charge of Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition was added to the case of Attempted business robbery opened at Heidedal Police Station.
The suspect will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate Court soon.
