Hawks investigate theft of fuel from Transnet pipeline, Kroonstad

The Hawks are investigating the tampering at a Transnet fuel pipeline next to the R82 provincial route that connects Johannesburg with Kroonstad.

The suspects drilled their way into the pipeline, which passes through the grounds and funnelled fuel into a man-made fuel dam. The fuel was then allegedly pumped into the possibly trucks or containers. It is estimated that fuel to the value of R10 000 was stolen.

The theft was discovered on Wednesday morning 21 October 2020 and was immediately channelled to the Hawks for investigation. The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation assisted by the Local Criminal Record Centre, are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, members of the public with any concerns about suspicious activity, such as excavation taking place at an unusual time or at an odd location are urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or via MySAPS app.
