On the 7 August 2021 at about 00:05, seven armed robbers allegedly cut open the fence and climbed on top of the wall to gain entrance into the smelt house.

The supervisor, 36, was tied up with cable ties and was fatally shot as he tried to fight back.

Two firearms, one Shot-Gun number with eight rounds and 9mm CZ Pistol number 0246M with 15 live rounds and two hand radios were robbed. Another 34-year-old security officer was shot below his stomach and was admitted in one of the hospitals in Matjhabeng.

The suspects could not gain entry into the smelt house, where gold is been processed.

A case of murder, attempted murder and business robbery has been registered for further investigation.
